Overview: Squirtle is a mischievous, water type Pokémon. It is the first in a three-stage evolutionary line, which also includes Wartortle and Blastoise. It was the first water starter, and was released alongside the grass starter, Bulbasaur, and the fire starter, Charmander. It debuted in Pokémon Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow, which are the first generation of Pokémon games. As one of the first starter Pokémon, Squirtle is very popular. In fact, Squirtle, along with Bulbasaur and Charmander, are probably the most popular Pokémon in the franchise, besides Pikachu and Eevee.

History/Biology: Squirtle is the Tiny Turtle Pokémon, named due to its appearance. It is a bipedal turtle, with large eyes, light blue skin, and a curled, squirrel-like tail. Its shell is brown on the back, and cream on the belly. The shell is soft when Squirtle is first born but it hardens over time. The shells shape minimizes drag and allows Squirtle to swim quickly. When frightened, it will retreat inside its shell and blast enemies with water attacks from its mouth.
